Over 48 cold, icy, November hours, Olympus Mons gathered in a lakeside cabin located in the highlands just outside of Pittsburgh, PA, to record what would be become the foundation of their third release, No Lights Left but the Sun. The seven tracks quickly took shape, pulling in direct influence from the remote surroundings paired with the strange weather setting up a recording atmosphere that seems not quite of this Earth. The endless fog covered water, black ice, and windy, sunshine filled mornings, found their way into the present vocals, melodic bass guitar, glass-like synth lines, metallic guitars, and clean, focused drums.
Originally formed in 2002, Olympus Mons is a space rock quartet that resides in the eastern hills of Pittsburgh, PA. The roots of their sound can be drawn to British and American indie rock, post punk, and shoegaze from the 1980s and 1990s.
Throughout their rather reclusive career they have managed to share the stage with national acts such as The Antlers, The Secret Machines, A Place to Bury Strangers and played various festivals such as Kalamashoegazer.
