Hacienda Wellness was born out of a desire to help others
find their path toward eating well. After years of living
on junk food, fast food, crazy work travel schedules and
a corporate job, I found myself pretty miserable, in a faltering
4-year relationship and 210 pounds with a 5'4" frame.
Not so good. Through my journey, I have lost 45 pounds by
finally learning what to eat and, more importantly, how
to cook. And, as I know you're wondering...I do eat red
meat and I do drink a beer or two. I firmly believe health
isn't about eating twigs and doesn't have to taste nasty.
Now, I want to help others on their journey, so I studied at both The Institute for Integrative Nutrition and The Natural Gourmet Institute to finalize my education.
A Bit About Me
I grew up in Southern California. I loved it there, until
I came to NYC on a choir trip in High School. I KNEW I HAD
to live here. After one failed attempt straight out of high
school, 10 years ago (1997) I moved here permanently to
join ranks in the Record Industry.
I realized quickly I don't like working in the label system
(try 5 different labels in a little over 7 years due to
label mergers), so I started my own company, Notorious
Radio I adore working for me & work with unsigned
artists & tiny labels who need my help the most. But
the biggest part: I actually LIKE every band I work with.
In February 2002 I met my now husband Daniel who is the
world to me (just don't tell the cats) & we got married
October 2005. We live here in Astoria, Queens, NYC. We are
part of our local CSA which I am the volunteer site coordinator
for. I do yoga & garden, each with a borderline obsessiveness.
I have learned how to cook...and I still love music.
In fact, the name Hacienda is a nod to the one and only
Tony
Wilson. Tony was a huge music figure from Manchester,
UK. He owned a label, Factory Records, a renowned club,
The Hacienda, and brought some of my favorite bands from
infancy to infamy (Joy Division, Happy Mondays, etc). He
passed in 2007, so I've named my new endeavour after his
efforts. A small payment back to someone who was such a
huge influence. R.I.P. Tony.
So...without further ado...welcome to Hacienda Wellness.
